Overview
Klebsiella pneumoniae K1 capsular polysaccharide vaccine is a vaccine developed against Klebsiella pneumoniae K1 serotype. It utilizes the K1 capsular polysaccharide (CPS) as the active component. The vaccine preparations were treated to detoxify trace quantities of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), which significantly reduced pyrogenicity and local reactions while preserving its antigenicity, molecular size, and immunogenicity. Evaluated in humans, the vaccine induced a fourfold or greater rise in both IgG and IgM antibody titers. These antibodies were highly effective in preventing fatal experimental burn wound sepsis caused by K. pneumoniae K1 in mice.
