This is an autologous dendritic cell-based cancer vaccine developed by the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute for the treatment of high-risk neuroblastoma. The vaccine is prepared by harvesting a patient's peripheral blood monocytes, which are then matured into dendritic cells (DCs) using granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and interleukin-4 (IL-4). These DCs are subsequently pulsed with both autologous tumor lysate, which provides a broad spectrum of tumor-associated antigens, and keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH), which serves as an immunogenic helper protein to enhance the immune response. The vaccine is designed to stimulate a T-cell mediated immune response against neuroblastoma cells. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in combination with autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation to reduce the risk of relapse.
