Overview

KLH-HA is a conjugate vaccine consisting of the highly immunogenic carrier protein **Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin (KLH)** covalently linked to a nine-residue **hemagglutinin (HA)** peptide epitope derived from the influenza virus. In the context of pH Low Insertion Peptide (pHLIP) targeted antigen delivery, KLH-HA is used as a priming agent to induce high titers of anti-HA antibodies in the host. These circulating antibodies are subsequently recruited to tumor sites by HA-pHLIP agents, which insert into the acidic membranes of cancer cells and expose the HA epitope on the cell surface. This targeted display of a foreign antigen triggers an antibody-mediated immune attack against the tumor, providing a potential therapeutic strategy for cancers that are unresponsive to standard T-cell-based therapies or deficient in MHC-I presentation.
