Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Schmerzfluid (specifically Klosterfrau Schmerzfluid) is a topical combination solution developed and marketed by MCM Klosterfrau for the supportive treatment of muscle and joint pain, strains, bruises, and sprains, as well as for promoting skin blood flow and preventing pressure ulcers. The formulation contains levomenthol, racemic camphor, and ethanol. Upon topical application, levomenthol activates cold-sensitive TRPM8 channels to produce an immediate cooling and analgesic effect. Camphor acts as an agonist on TRPV1 and TRPV3 channels and an antagonist on TRPA1 channels, which, together with ethanol, promotes local blood circulation, provides counterirritant effects, and helps relax the underlying musculature.
