KM R-Fit is a carbonate apatite-based bone substitute material developed for use in periodontal regenerative surgery. It is specifically designed to be used in combination with Regros (trafermin), a recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor (rh-bFGF), to treat moderate to severe periodontitis characterized by vertical bone defects. Carbonate apatite is a bioresorbable ceramic that closely mimics the chemical composition of natural bone mineral, facilitating osteoconduction and gradual replacement by host bone through the natural remodeling process. In clinical applications, the material serves as a scaffold that supports the growth of new alveolar bone and periodontal tissues when applied to the site of the defect during flap surgery.
