Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KMCAR™ T-cell (KMCAR T cell) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by HaemaLogiX for the treatment of relapsed or refractory kappa-restricted multiple myeloma. The therapy targets the Kappa Myeloma Antigen (KMA), a tumor-specific receptor expressed exclusively on malignant plasma cells and absent from healthy immune cells. KMCAR is derived from the proprietary KappaMab™ antibody platform. The manufacturing process involves harvesting a patient's own T cells, genetically engineering them to express a CAR directed against KMA, and reinfusing the expanded cells as a single-dose 'living drug.' It is currently being evaluated in the first-in-human Phase 1 KOALA trial in Australia.
