Overview

KN012 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody and a biosimilar candidate for denosumab. It is designed to target and bind with high affinity to the Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor Kappa-B Ligand (RANKL). By inhibiting the interaction between RANKL and its receptor RANK, KN012 prevents the activation of osteoclasts and their precursors, which are responsible for bone resorption. This mechanism leads to a reduction in bone turnover and an increase in bone mineral density. KN012 is primarily being developed for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis and other conditions characterized by excessive bone loss. The drug has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials, often led by institutions such as The First Hospital of Jilin University, to demonstrate therapeutic equivalence to the reference product, Prolia.
