KN024 is a biosimilar candidate targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), currently in preclinical development by Suzhou Alphamab Co., Ltd. for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases. It is designed as a biosimilar of aflibercept (Eylea), a recombinant fusion protein that acts as a soluble decoy receptor (VEGF Trap) to neutralize VEGF-A, VEGF-B, and placental growth factor (PlGF). By binding these ligands, KN024 inhibits the activation of VEGF receptors, thereby suppressing pathological angiogenesis and vascular leakage associated with conditions such as neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular edema. The program is part of Alphamab's biosimilar portfolio and is designated as an asset to be transferred or out-licensed.
