Overview

KN5601 is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor natural killer (CAR-NK) cell therapy engineered to target both CD19 and B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA). It is designed for the treatment of B cell-mediated autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), multi-drug resistant nephrotic syndrome (MDR-SRNS), and IgA nephropathy. By genetically modifying NK cells to express CARs against CD19 and BCMA, KN5601 aims to selectively eliminate pathogenic B cells implicated in these diseases. Compared to autologous CAR T-cell therapies, CAR-NK therapies like KN5601 offer advantages such as a lower risk of graft-versus-host disease, reduced incidence of cytokine release syndrome or neurotoxicity, and potentially greater accessibility due to cost-effectiveness[3][4][10].
