KO-7246

KO-7246 is a selective, orally bioavailable small molecule agonist of the prostaglandin E2 receptor 4 (EP4), currently under development by Kissei Pharmaceutical. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. The EP4 receptor is one of four G protein-coupled receptors for prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and is known to play a significant role in intestinal homeostasis, mucosal protection, and the regulation of local immune responses. By activating EP4, KO-7246 is designed to enhance the regeneration of the intestinal epithelium and suppress the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, thereby promoting mucosal healing in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its potential to improve mucosal barrier function and reduce disease activity in models of colitis.
