Overview
KO-7246 is a next-generation small molecule menin inhibitor being developed by Kura Oncology, in collaboration with Janssen, for the treatment of diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases. Menin is a scaffold protein that plays a critical role in epigenetic regulation and gene expression. While menin inhibitors are primarily known for their role in treating genetically defined leukemias (such as NPM1-mutated or KMT2A-rearranged AML), KO-7246 represents an expansion of this technology into metabolic indications. The compound is currently in preclinical development, with IND-enabling studies anticipated to begin in 2026.
