KOC1-508 is a small molecule inhibitor targeting the oncofetal RNA-binding protein **KOC1** (also known as **IGF2BP3** or Insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 3). IGF2BP3 is an RNA-binding protein that is highly expressed in various aggressive malignancies, such as pancreatic, lung, and colorectal cancers, but is largely absent in normal adult tissues. It functions by binding to and stabilizing mRNAs that encode proteins involved in cell proliferation, migration, and chemoresistance. KOC1-508 was identified through high-throughput screening and works by disrupting the interaction between IGF2BP3 and its target transcripts, such as *ACTB* (beta-actin) and *CD164*. By inhibiting these RNA-protein interactions, KOC1-508 reduces the expression of oncogenic factors, leading to decreased tumor cell growth and metastasis in preclinical models. It is primarily utilized as a chemical probe to study the therapeutic potential of targeting RNA-binding proteins in oncology.
