Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kofarest DX is an oral combination syrup developed by Centaur Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of dry, non-productive coughs associated with allergies, smoking, infections, or throat irritation. It contains three active ingredients: dextromethorphan hydrobromide, a cough suppressant that acts on the central nervous system to elevate the cough threshold; chlorpheniramine maleate, a first-generation antihistamine that blocks histamine H1 receptors to relieve allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes; and menthol, which provides a cooling sensation to soothe throat irritation. The combination is approved and marketed in India.
