Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kofarest PD is a combination respiratory medication developed and marketed by Centaur Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of productive (wet) cough associated with bronchospasm in pediatric patients. It is available in two main formulations: Kofarest PD Drops, which contains a combination of the mucolytic ambroxol, the expectorant guaifenesin, and the selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist levosalbutamol; and Kofarest PD Syrup, which contains ambroxol, guaifenesin, and the beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist terbutaline (often with menthol). Together, these active ingredients work synergistically to thin and loosen thick mucus, facilitate its clearance from the respiratory tract, and relax bronchial smooth muscle to relieve wheezing, chest tightness, and breathing difficulties. Kofarest PD is approved in India for pediatric cough associated with conditions such as bronchitis, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, and emphysema.
