KOFTAB-D

KOFTAB-D is an approved oral combination medication developed and marketed by Omnica Laboratories in Nepal. It is formulated as a tablet containing three active ingredients: dextromethorphan hydrobromide, triprolidine hydrochloride, and phenylephrine hydrochloride. Dextromethorphan acts as a centrally acting cough suppressant by inhibiting the cough center in the medulla and functioning as an NMDA receptor antagonist. Triprolidine is a first-generation antihistamine that provides symptomatic relief by antagonizing H1 receptors and possesses antimuscarinic properties. Phenylephrine serves as a decongestant by selectively stimulating alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, leading to vasoconstriction of nasal blood vessels and reduction of mucosal edema. The combination is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with the common cold, cough, and other upper respiratory tract conditions.
