Overview

KOTMIN13 is a traditional Korean herbal medicine formulation developed by Hamsoa Pharmaceutical for the treatment of bronchial asthma and allergic inflammation. It is a modified version of the traditional formula Guaruhaebaebaekju-tang and is composed of extracts from four medicinal plants: *Inula japonica* Thunberg (flowers), *Trichosanthes kirilowii* Maximowicz var. *japonica* kitamura (semen), *Peucedanum praeruptorum* Dunn (radix), and *Allium macrostemon* Bge (bulbs). KOTMIN13 exerts anti-inflammatory and anti-asthmatic effects by inhibiting the NF-κB and MAPK (ERK, JNK, and p38) signaling pathways, which leads to a reduction in the release of inflammatory mediators such as nitric oxide, prostaglandin E2, IL-1β, and IL-6. In preclinical models, the formulation has demonstrated the ability to suppress airway hyperresponsiveness and reduce the infiltration of leukocytes and Th2 cytokines in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid.
