KP-1199 is a novel, orally administered small molecule analgesic developed by Kalyra Pharmaceuticals. It is an analog of acetaminophen (APAP) designed to provide antinociceptive (pain-relieving) effects without the hepatotoxicity associated with traditional acetaminophen. Preclinical studies demonstrated that KP-1199 increases nociceptive thresholds in animal models of thermal injury and does not negatively affect coagulation or platelet activation in human blood samples, making it potentially safer for use in scenarios where bleeding risk is a concern. The precise mechanism of action remains undefined, but it is classified as a non-opioid, non-NSAID analgesic[1][3][5][6]. Clinical development was discontinued after termination of its Phase 1 trial for pain[1][7][8].
