Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KP-402 is a preclinical small molecule antagonist of the complement 5a receptor (C5aR, also known as C5aR1 or CD88). Originally developed by Kira Pharmaceuticals using its LOGIC drug discovery platform, the compound is designed to inhibit C5a-mediated inflammatory signaling, which plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases such as ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV). In July 2026, Kira Pharmaceuticals out-licensed KP-402, alongside the long-acting anti-C5a monoclonal antibody KP-301, to Mirador Therapeutics for $12 million upfront plus potential development and commercial milestones. This transaction allowed Kira (which subsequently merged with Jasper Therapeutics) to focus its resources on its clinical-stage pipeline while Mirador assumed global development and commercialization rights for KP-402.
