Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KP-723 is an oral small molecule inhibitor of Signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 (STAT6) being developed for the treatment of autoimmune and allergic diseases, including atopic dermatitis and asthma. STAT6 is a key transcription factor that mediates the downstream signaling of IL-4 and IL-13, cytokines that are central to Type 2 (Th2) inflammatory responses. By targeting STAT6, KP-723 aims to provide a next-generation oral treatment option for patients with Th2-mediated inflammatory diseases who do not achieve remission with current therapies. In December 2024, Kaken Pharmaceutical entered into an exclusive global licensing agreement with Johnson & Johnson for the development and commercialization of KP-723, with Kaken retaining rights in Japan.
