Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kp-OMV4 is an experimental quadrivalent outer membrane vesicle (OMV) vaccine designed to protect against multidrug-resistant (MDR) and hypervirulent (hv) *Klebsiella pneumoniae* infections [E0954]. Developed by researchers at the Instituto de Salud Carlos III and the University of Notre Dame, the vaccine incorporates OMVs isolated from *K. pneumoniae* strains expressing the four most prevalent O-antigen serotypes (O1, O2, O3, and O5) formulated with Alhydrogel [E0954]. In preclinical mouse models, Kp-OMV4 has demonstrated a favorable safety profile and elicited robust humoral and cellular immune responses, including high IgG titers, a mixed Th1/Th17 response, and potent complement-mediated bactericidal activity, providing broad protection against multiple *K. pneumoniae* serotypes [E0954].
