KP405

KP405 is a first-in-class, brain-penetrant, dual incretin receptor agonist developed by Kariya Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, primarily Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. It acts as an agonist at both the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) and the gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor (GIPR), aiming to provide neuroprotection by slowing or halting the progression of neuronal degeneration. Unlike traditional GLP-1 drugs designed for diabetes that remain in circulation, KP405 has been engineered to efficiently cross the blood-brain barrier, potentially reducing peripheral side effects such as nausea while maximizing central nervous system efficacy.
