KPL-1243

KPL-1243 is an investigational monoclonal antibody developed by Kiniksa Pharmaceuticals that targets interleukin-1 (IL-1). It is designed to neutralize the pro-inflammatory activity of IL-1, a cytokine that plays a central role in the pathogenesis of recurrent pericarditis and various other autoinflammatory conditions. By inhibiting IL-1 signaling, KPL-1243 aims to reduce pericardial inflammation and prevent the recurrence of symptoms. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of recurrent pericarditis and is in preclinical development for other undisclosed indications. KPL-1243 represents a distinct therapeutic modality from Kiniksa's approved IL-1 trap, Arcalyst (rilonacept).
