Overview

KPL-387 is a fully human immunoglobulin G2 (IgG2) monoclonal antibody developed by Kiniksa Pharmaceuticals. It binds to the human interleukin-1 receptor 1 (IL-1R1), thereby inhibiting the signaling activity of both interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β). This mechanism blocks the inflammatory pathway mediated by these cytokines. The drug is being developed as a potential treatment for recurrent pericarditis, with a target profile of monthly subcutaneous dosing in a liquid formulation, aiming to improve patient adherence and convenience compared to existing therapies[3][8][9].
