Overview

KpSAT-13B is a novel synthetic kisspeptin peptide analog developed to target the kisspeptin receptor (KISS1R) for the treatment of asthma. It is a modified version of the endogenous Kp-13 peptide, featuring specific amino acid substitutions (S6A and P12T) designed to enhance binding efficiency and receptor activation. In preclinical studies, KpSAT-13B has demonstrated the ability to regulate airway smooth muscle (ASM) remodeling by inhibiting PDGF-induced cell proliferation and TGF-β1-induced extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition, such as collagen and fibronectin. The peptide acts as an agonist at the orthosteric binding pocket of KISS1R and modulates the phospho-PKC-δ signaling pathway. It was developed by researchers at North Dakota State University in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic.
