Overview

KQ-791 is an orally active protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 1B (PTP1B) antagonist developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance. It was originally developed by Merck & Co and later advanced by Kaneq Bioscience. The drug completed Phase I clinical trials for type 2 diabetes in 2016. More recently, it is being investigated for potential use in cancer immunotherapy, particularly for triple-negative breast cancer and metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
