Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KRC-01 + cisplatin is a **combination regimen** comprising **KRC-01** and **cisplatin**, investigated as an adjunct to standard chemoradiation for cancer, particularly cervical cancer. KRC-01 is a novel intratumorally injected radiosensitizer composed of 3% hydrogen peroxide and 1% sodium hyaluronate. **Mechanism:** Upon injection, hydrogen peroxide increases intratumoral oxygen levels by inactivating antioxidative enzymes (like peroxidase and catalase), producing local oxygen, and promoting excessive formation of hydroxyl radicals during radiation, which cause irreparable damage (DNA double-strand breaks) and promote apoptosis in tumor cells. Sodium hyaluronate stabilizes hydrogen peroxide to maintain high intra-tumoral oxygen and provide mild local analgesia. Cisplatin is a standard DNA-damaging platinum-based chemotherapeutic and radiosensitizer that crosslinks DNA, leading to apoptosis. Combined, the regimen aims to overcome hypoxia-driven radioresistance in solid tumors and improve anti-tumor efficacy, possibly with additional immune-stimulatory effects. Development is by **KORTUC**; the combination is being evaluated in a seamless phase 1/2 clinical trial in cervical cancer, with both agents administered in conjunction with radiotherapy[1][2][4].
