Krill powder is a dietary supplement derived from dried and ground Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba), a small shrimp-like marine crustacean. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids (notably EPA and DHA), phospholipids, astaxanthin (a potent antioxidant), proteins, vitamins, and minerals. The primary mechanism of action is attributed to its high content of bioavailable omega-3 fatty acids bound to phospholipids, which are more easily absorbed than those in triglyceride form found in fish oil.
