KRIYA.586 is an investigational adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector-based gene therapy developed by Kriya Therapeutics for the treatment of Thyroid Eye Disease (TED). The therapy is designed to deliver a genetic payload that enables the durable, local expression of a protein that inhibits the insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R) pathway. By targeting IGF-1R, a key driver in the pathogenesis of TED, KRIYA.586 aims to reduce orbital inflammation, swelling, and proptosis (eye bulging) with a single administration. This approach potentially offers a more convenient and long-lasting alternative to repeated intravenous infusions of monoclonal antibodies, such as teprotumumab, by providing continuous therapeutic protein expression directly within the affected orbital tissues.
