Krofix-O

Krofix-O is a fixed-dose combination oral antibiotic tablet developed and marketed by Croise Pharma, an Indian generic pharmaceutical company. It contains 200 mg of cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, and 200 mg of ofloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone. Cefixime acts by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which inhibits the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis. Ofloxacin inhibits the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This dual-action mechanism provides broad-spectrum coverage against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Krofix-O is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections affecting the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, soft tissues, and is also used in the management of typhoid fever.
