KROS-401 is a cyclic peptide inhibitor developed by Kairos Pharma that targets the Interleukin-4 (IL-4) and Interleukin-13 (IL-13) cytokine receptor complex. By inhibiting these pathways, KROS-401 acts as a tumor microenvironment immune modulator, specifically reversing the transition of macrophages from the pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype to the immunosuppressive M2 phenotype. This mechanism is designed to mitigate immune suppression in advanced cancers, such as triple-negative breast cancer and glioma, and has also shown potential in treating fibrosis by reversing the M1 to M2 transition. As of early 2024, the drug is in preclinical development and has been evaluated in animal models.
