Overview

KRP-AB1102 is a novel, small molecule muscarinic M3 receptor antagonist being developed by Kyorin Pharmaceutical for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). As a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA), it works by selectively blocking the M3 receptors on airway smooth muscle cells, thereby inhibiting the bronchoconstrictive action of acetylcholine and promoting sustained bronchodilation. The drug is administered via inhalation and is currently undergoing Phase II clinical trials in Japan to evaluate its efficacy, safety, and optimal dosing in patients with moderate to severe stable COPD.
