KRP-AB1102F is a fixed-dose combination dry powder inhaler (DPI) containing glycopyrronium bromide and formoterol fumarate, currently under development by Kyorin Pharmaceutical for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Glycopyrronium bromide is a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) that provides bronchodilation by inhibiting M3 muscarinic receptors in the airway smooth muscle. Formoterol fumarate is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle by stimulating beta2-adrenoceptors. This dual-action therapy aims to improve lung function and reduce symptoms in patients with moderate to severe COPD. KRP-AB1102F represents a DPI formulation of the combination already available as a pressurized metered-dose inhaler (pMDI), providing an alternative delivery option for patients who may prefer or better utilize a dry powder device. It is currently in Phase III clinical trials in Japan.
