Overview

KS-3 is a novel kisspeptin receptor (KISS1R) agonist currently under investigation for the treatment of severe asthma. Developed by researchers at the University of Oklahoma and North Dakota State University, KS-3 aims to address chronic inflammation and airway remodeling in asthma phenotypes that are resistant to conventional corticosteroids, such as the mixed Th2/Th17 inflammatory phenotype. In preclinical mouse models, intranasal administration of KS-3 has demonstrated significant reductions in airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR), eosinophil and neutrophil infiltration, and collagen deposition. It appears to be more potent or effective than the endogenous ligand fragment Kp-10 in these models.
