KS-40070 is a selective small molecule inhibitor of dual-specificity tyrosine phosphorylation-regulated kinase 1B (DYRK1B). DYRK1B is a member of the DYRK family of kinases that plays a critical role in the regulation of the cell cycle and adipocyte differentiation. High expression of DYRK1B has been linked to metabolic disorders, including obesity and type 2 diabetes. KS-40070 demonstrates anti-adipogenic effects by inhibiting the differentiation of preadipocytes into mature adipocytes and shows potential anti-diabetic activity, possibly through the modulation of FOXO1A signaling. It is currently in the discovery or preclinical stage of development for the treatment of metabolic diseases.
