KS-SVF-1002 is an autologous adipose-derived stem cell (ASC) therapy developed by Kimera Society for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The therapeutic process involves extracting adipose tissue from the patient via liposuction, followed by the isolation of the non-cultured stromal vascular fraction (SVF) which contains a population of regenerative stem cells. These cells are then re-introduced into the patient's system through intravenous injection. The therapy aims to exploit the natural immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory capabilities of ASCs to reduce systemic and pulmonary inflammation, potentially improving lung function and exercise tolerance. Clinical evaluation focuses on safety and efficacy endpoints such as forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and the 6-minute walk distance (6MWD) test.
