KSP-0576 is an orally administered small molecule TRPM8 (Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 8) antagonist developed by Kissei Pharmaceutical. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for the treatment of interstitial cystitis and bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS). TRPM8 is a non-selective cation channel primarily known as a cold sensor in sensory neurons, but it is also expressed in the bladder where it contributes to the transmission of pain and urgency signals. By inhibiting TRPM8, KSP-0576 aims to provide a novel therapeutic approach for managing the chronic pelvic pain and urinary symptoms of IC/BPS. Clinical studies have focused on evaluating the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of an oral suspension formulation in both Japanese and Caucasian populations.
