KSP-0930 is an orally active, small molecule orexin-2 receptor (OX2R) agonist being developed by Kissei Pharmaceutical for the treatment of narcolepsy type 1. Narcolepsy type 1 is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy, primarily caused by the loss of orexin-producing neurons in the hypothalamus. By acting as a selective agonist for the OX2R, KSP-0930 aims to mimic the activity of endogenous orexin, thereby promoting wakefulness and stabilizing sleep-wake cycles. The drug is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation in Japan to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in both healthy volunteers and patients with narcolepsy.
