KSP-1007 is a novel, potent, broad-spectrum bicyclic boronate-based β-lactamase inhibitor developed for use in combination with meropenem to treat serious infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. It strongly inhibits class A carbapenemases (KPCs), class D carbapenemases (OXAs from Acinetobacter spp. and OXA-48), and also shows activity against class B metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs) except IMP-6. By inhibiting these β-lactamases, KSP-1007 restores the efficacy of meropenem against resistant pathogens. The drug is being developed primarily for complicated intra-abdominal infections, urinary tract infections, hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia, and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia[1][3][4][5][6].
