Ku Huang granules

Ku Huang granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily utilized in China for the treatment of hepatobiliary disorders, including drug-induced liver injury (DILI), viral hepatitis, and obstructive jaundice. The formulation is composed of five herbal extracts: *Artemisiae Scopariae Herba* (Yinchen), *Gardeniae Fructus* (Zhizi), *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Dahuang), *Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex* (Huangbai), and *Sophorae Flavescentis Radix* (Kushen). It exerts hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and choleretic effects by modulating key signaling pathways and transporters involved in bile acid homeostasis and oxidative stress. Clinical evaluation, including a Phase 2 trial sponsored by Longhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has compared its efficacy to standard treatments like S-adenosylmethionine in patients with liver injury.
