KU42.33C is a mouse monoclonal antibody targeting the external domain of CD109, a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein. CD109 is significantly overexpressed in various cancers, including pancreatic adenocarcinoma, while showing minimal expression in normal pancreatic tissues. Developed by researchers at Kingston University London, KU42.33C was generated against the BxPC-3 pancreatic cancer cell line. While the naked antibody does not inhibit tumor cell growth or migration in vitro, it has demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity for detecting CD109 expression via Western blot and immunohistochemistry (IHC). It is being investigated for its potential as a diagnostic tool and as a targeting component for humanized or conjugated therapeutic versions (e.g., antibody-drug conjugates) in patients whose tumors overexpress the CD109 antigen.
