Overview

KU44.71 is a novel monoclonal antibody (mAb) targeting the external domain of integrin α6β4, a cell surface protein frequently overexpressed in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and its metastases. Developed by researchers at Kingston University London and affiliated hospitals, KU44.71 was generated using hybridoma technology against the CFPAC-1 cell line. While the naked antibody does not directly inhibit the growth of α6β4-expressing cells, it effectively induces the internalization of the integrin complex, highlighting its potential as a vehicle for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Furthermore, KU44.71 has demonstrated utility in diagnostic applications, including western blotting and immunohistochemistry, for assessing α6β4 expression levels and their prognostic significance in cancer patients.
