Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kunbao Pill is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula primarily used for the treatment of climacteric (menopausal) syndrome. Developed by the Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and manufactured by companies such as Beijing Tong Ren Tang, it consists of approximately 23 herbal ingredients, including *Ligustrum lucidum*, *Eclipta prostrata*, *Lycium barbarum*, and *Angelica sinensis*. The formula is designed to nourish the liver and kidney yin, clear deficiency heat, and soothe the nerves. Clinically, it is used to alleviate symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, irritability, and dizziness associated with the decline of estrogen levels during menopause. Its mechanism involves the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis and potential phytoestrogenic activity, which helps to stabilize the endocrine system and improve vasomotor and psychological symptoms.
