Overview
Kunbixiao decoction (KBXG) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed specifically for the treatment of female rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It is composed of two classic TCM formulas—Simiao Yong’an decoction and Siwu decoction. KBXG has been used in clinical practice to address the TCM-identified pathogenesis of Qi-blood deficiency and toxin-heat blocking joints, which are considered common in female RA patients. Preclinical studies have shown that KBXG can inhibit inflammation, synovial hyperplasia, and joint destruction in animal models of arthritis. Clinical observations suggest it may reduce disease activity and improve symptoms without significant adverse events. The mechanism is believed to involve anti-inflammatory effects and modulation of immune responses relevant to RA pathology[1][9][4].
