Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kushen Capsules is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) manufactured by Yunnan Yongzitang, a subsidiary of Hunan Hansen Pharmaceutical. The formulation is derived from the root of *Sophora flavescens* (Kushen). It is primarily used in TCM for its heat-clearing, dampness-drying, and insecticidal properties. Clinically, it is often indicated for conditions such as damp-heat diarrhea, jaundice, and various inflammatory or infectious conditions, including gynecological infections like trichomonal vaginitis. As a traditional herbal formulation, it does not have a single defined molecular target but contains active alkaloids such as matrine and oxymatrine which contribute to its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects. The product is marketed as an exclusive specification variety by Yunnan Yongzitang.
