Kv 11.1-Mab-PEG-TiO2 NPs is a novel targeted nanoparticle delivery system designed for the treatment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). The system utilizes titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanocrystals as a core, which are functionalized with dicarboxylic acid-terminated polyethylene glycol (PEG) linkers. These linkers are conjugated to monoclonal antibodies (Kv 11.1-Mab) specific to the Kv 11.1 potassium channel (also known as HERG or KCNH2). The Kv 11.1 channel is frequently overexpressed on the plasma membrane of PDAC cells, allowing the nanoparticles to selectively recognize and internalize into tumor cells. While traditional TiO2 nanoformulations can be toxic, this specific PEGylated and antibody-conjugated system is reported to be non-cytotoxic, offering a potential platform for photodynamic or sonodynamic cancer therapies.
