It acts as a KLKB1 (plasma kallikrein) inhibitor and has demonstrated the ability to prevent and reverse vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-induced retinal edema in preclinical mouse models. The drug is being investigated for its potential use in treating diseases such as diabetic macular edema (DME) and other conditions where plasma kallikrein activity contributes to pathology, including hereditary angioedema (HAE).
