Overview

KVD-998052 is a small molecule inhibitor of plasma kallikrein (KLKB1), developed for the treatment of respiratory diseases, specifically adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The drug acts by inhibiting KLKB1, a serine protease involved in the kallikrein-kinin system, which plays a role in inflammation and vascular permeability. Preclinical studies have shown that oral administration of KVD-998052 improves arterial blood oxygenation in murine models of acute respiratory distress syndrome. The drug was initially developed by Vantia Ltd. and is currently being advanced by KalVista Pharmaceuticals[1][2][4].
