Overview

KW-120-95-1 is a synthetic analog of Withaferin A, a natural product derived from the plant *Withania somnifera*. Developed by researchers at the University of Arizona Cancer Center, this compound has been investigated for its potent anti-cancer activity, particularly against pancreatic cancer. Its mechanism of action involves the up-regulation of the Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway and the modulation of glutathione metabolism, which collectively induce cellular stress and trigger apoptosis. In preclinical studies, KW-120-95-1 demonstrated sub-micromolar potency (IC50 values ranging from 0.29 to 0.56 µM) across various pancreatic cancer cell lines, including Panc-1, MiaPaca-2, and BxPC-3, showing significantly higher growth inhibitory effects compared to its parent compound.
