Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kwan Loong Oil is a topical analgesic medicated oil developed and manufactured by Haw Par Healthcare Ltd. It contains a combination of methyl salicylate (35%) and menthol (16%) as active ingredients, which work together to provide temporary relief from minor aches and pains of muscles and joints. Methyl salicylate acts as a counter-irritant and analgesic by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis and activating TRPA1 channels, while menthol provides a cooling sensation through the activation of TRPM8 receptors. The formulation is indicated for conditions such as simple backaches, arthritis, bruises, sprains, and strains. It is produced under GMP standards in Singapore and is approved for over-the-counter use in various international markets, including the United States and Canada.
