Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KWKLFKKIVL is a novel, synthetic ten-amino-acid antimicrobial peptide (AMP) designed through template-based optimization from AMP databases. It exhibits potent broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-negative pathogens, including carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli (CRE E. coli), extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii. The peptide exerts its bactericidal effect primarily through bacterial cell membrane disruption. Preclinical in vitro studies demonstrate high efficacy with low cytotoxicity and hemolytic activity, suggesting a favorable safety profile for potential therapeutic applications.
